Do you hate the truth aswell?

This is a video of a guy preaching outside of "Lakewood Church, Houston" The larget church in America. He is being blocked by church staff, and many walk by ignoring him. This is sad. People love lies and hate the truth. With itching ears they gather to themselves teachers like Joel Osteen, to make them feel good and codle their sin.

WOW, Dazz...
Glad to see you posting again...i check periodically because i enjoy your insights here and on the youtube site as well.
Man, this video says a lot. Something about those HOARDS of people walking by gave me chills..because nothing the 'street preacher' said was "off base"...
I can't speak to the salvation status of EVERY person that walked by but this sure brought to mind: "BROAD is the way that leads to destruction and MANY there be that find it, but narrow is the way and straight is the gate that leads to eternal life.." WOW...

Hi Dazz,
I just watched your youtube video about tithing and I am still seeking the Lord to let me know about tithing. I know we are under the grace of God and no longer under the law but according to the scripture below, Jesus said in Matthew 5 v 17:

17"Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.

This is where I need a revealation regarding the issue of tithing. Can you shed some more light from this scripture? Thanks

Hey Fumni, glad you are keeping your mind open to the word of God. Concerning your question. It is important to read the context of what Christ is saying. If you carry on to the next verse it will be clearer. vs18 - For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, will all be fulfilled.

Whats important to bear in mind when reading vs17 is this. Jesus was the fulfilment of the law and the what the prophets spoke concerning the messiah. While he was on this earth he abided in the law, jewish customs. Remember when he rebuked the pharasiees on one occassion, he said, (Matthew 23:23)
Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay TITHE of mint and anise and cummin, and have OMITTED the weightier matters of the LAW, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.

So Jesus was in favour of the tithe while he was on the earth, since the laws of Moses where still in effect while he lived.

The new covenant (which we are under) could only come in to action when the old was fulfilled through the death of Christ.

(Hebrews 9:16-18) 16For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator.

17For a testament is of force after men are dead: otherwise it is of no strength at all while the testator liveth.

18Whereupon neither the first testament was dedicated without blood.

This is basically saying that Christ (the testator) had to die before the new testament could be inforce. We are now living in the NEW TESTAMENT of Grace, not THE LAWS of Moses.

The bible say that the law is now written on our hearts. According to Matthew 5:17, If we interpret it incorrectly, and beleive that the tithe is valid today based on that verse, we MUST conclude that the ENTIRE LAWS of MOSES is valid also. Therefore, we should be doing burnt offerings, sacrifices, wear only certain materials, eat only certain foods, etc... Since we do not abide in the whole law of Moses, we are transgressors of the ENTIRE Law as the Apostle Paul rightly said. Therefore you cannot try to justify ourselves throught the Law, but recieve Grace made available through our Saviour.

Tithing is under the law, and not to be practiced today.

James 2:10
For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just ONE point is guilty of breaking all of it.

Give as you purpose, cheerfully and not under compulsion!

Hope this helps, Daz

In our covert investigation conducted at Victory Christian Center (VCC) in Austin, TX, we collected mounting evidence of how the Republican political strategy is employed from the Bush/Rove White House on down to their base of conservative Evangelical churches.

David Barton, Vice-chairman of the Texas GOP and founder of an organization called Wallbuilders, was invited to be the guest speaker at both of VCC's Sunday morning worship services on August 20, 2006. According to Pastor Lee Boss' introduction of David Barton to the congregation, he's "been used by God to touch more elected officials in this nation over any other organization." Armed with old-time bibles, a swanky PowerPoint presentation, and much jibber-jabber, Barton mobilizes the Evangelical Christians to the polls by replacing the word "voting" with "stewardship". He concludes by telling us that Republican political candidates are the obvious choice in our stewardship if we are concerned with biblical issues.

Karl Rove understands the conservative Evangelical voices are a powerful and very well organized tax exempt, money making machine for the Republican party. As long as these Evangelical church leaders have an insatiable appetite for power and influence, Rove will continue to use them to succeed on his mission of establishing a permanent Republican majority. Watch how all the Republican Presidential candidates are scrambling in a tizzy to court the Evangelical / Religious Right vote. It's funny to see the conservatives salivating at the bit, waiting for the next self-righteous politician with the right outside package that they can rally behind. Ever notice how the GOP have to beat up on a minority group of people in order to rally their base? How Christian or Christ-like is that?

I totally commend that man for what he did outside Lakewood Church. Really, the way I look at it, it is really not a church at all. They would definitely not like the true gospel at all.

I know tithing is a very controvesial subject between believers especially since many wolves in sheeps clothing are taking advantage of the saved and unsaved. But I do not agree with the new covenant vs old covenant belief of tithing. If that is the case we don't have to obey the ten commandments or any of the other laws concerning spiritual and relational matters God is perfect and everything he does is perfect we corrupt his word by putting our own spin on it. I heard an evangelist say God's word is simple yet hard for some to understand. Yes Jesus did bring in the new covenant and sin offerings were no longer required, Read Hebrews 10 the new covenant is within you and Christ lives witin you. Yes give as you purposee in your heart , but what is in your heart God's law written in your heart. God is not only talking about the amount but your motives for giving.Do you really believe in our hearts God is telling His people don't tithe? Most people who tithe give 10% or more and even go beyond that in offerings. God wants us to rely on HIm and not money. Then you have others that tithe and are like the Pharasies you mentioned and do nothing else. Tithing is really not about the money because God's church will stand whether or not people tithe. Tithing will reveals our true hearts. You cannot serve God and money. Every time I hear people say God doesn't require us to tithe I cringe because we don't have to do anything God gives us choices. Just like some people choose not to accept Christ as Savoir. 1 Corinthians 6:12 "Everything is permissible for me"--but not everything is beneficial.

tithing is biblically impossible for the believer. why hold on to the law? why not give cheerfully as you purpose in your heart? also, tithing was never money not to mention there were three different tithes, and on the 7th year, you kept the tithe for yourself. they dont practice that in the "church" today: i wonder why?

I wanted to make a comment about the Lakewood Church video. People who appreciate Joel Osteen's positive messages need to review the transcript of his interview with Larry King. During the LIVE interview, Joel Osteen frequently states to important issues of today that he doesn't know. "I don't know" is a frequent in his conversation with Larry King. His doctrine of positivity is misleading many who attend his church. He doesn't talk about sin or sinners and in the transcript he states that he does not want to condemn people. Joel Osteen appears to be a good-hearted person. However having a good heart is not what gets one into the Kingdom of God. By his own admission, he considers himself a preacher. Preachers are to preach and teach the Glad Tidings, the Good News, the Gospel and may I add that the Gospel talks about sin, repentance, and hell. People are being thoroughly mislead. Some of these preachers should call themselves motivational coaches but just not preachers because the Word of God is often left out of their sermons.
