What Does The Bible Say About Divorce?

Since God is a part of the sacramental union of a married couple it is keeping that the vow be a life long vow. The Bible compares marriage to God's love for the Church. Even if people in the Church sin against Him, He is always faithful to His unconditional love to them. It is this love, God's love for the Church that is represented by the spouses vow to love each other until death do them part, for better or for worse.

NOTE: Since this video I have been directed to more information on this topic by independentonservative. I am studying into this further and will update my final conclusions on the matter. The marital unfaithful Christ speaks of in Mat 19:9 may not be an excuse to divorce at all, if the greek word used (Porniea) means what some imply. It is said that this word has more to do with "unlawful" marriage. Example, being decieved into marriage (it was a custom that a virgin signed a certificate to validate there virginity.

If it was found by her husband on her wedding night that she lied this would constitute a breach of contract, with effect allowing the husband to nullify the marriage)Or as Paul said in 1 Cor 5:1-5, a man with his fathers wife, of an incestious marriage. This marriage would not be recognised by God.If this is the case and if this is the intended meaning of "unfaithfulness" in this verse, then the excuse of adultery is also invalid as an excuse to divorce and remarry. Bearing in mind that Christ said, to look at a women to lust after her is commiting adultery in your heart. This is surely not grounds to divorce.

I would advise a study on the greek work 'Porniea'. What God has joined together, let NO man seperate. God bless you and TRUST in the Lord our God. HE is ABLE.
